He-Man was originally the main character of Masters of the Universe toy series that appeared in 1980. It was made up by toy firm Mattel. Later He-Man has become familiar from a wide variety of comic books, but especially by the He-Man and the the Masters of the Universe cartoon series produced by animation company Filmation at 1983-1985. In 2002 they made a new version of the cartoon series which was not as successful as expected.
